The AllOralsDB is a taxonomically-comprehensive reference database resource for salivary and oral metaproteomics. It is offered in four "flavors", as described in Handelmann et al. (biorXiv link coming soon!). All flavor builds include proteins from humans, fungi and other microeukaryotes, viruses, food sources, and contaminants. However, flavors differ in the subset of oral bacterial and archaeal proteins that they include, as follows: - A: includes proteins from genomes of all oral bacteria in the eHOMD (10,190,142 proteins) - S: includes proteins from genomes of representatives of each oral species in the eHOMD (917,366 proteins) - G: includes proteins from genomes of representatives of each oral genus in the eHOMD (392,406 proteins) - F: includes proteins from genomes of representatives of each oral family in the eHOMD (305,858 proteins) The recommended flavor is "S", which offers a balance of database size with taxon representation.
